Resigning From My Job
On 13th August 1989 I resigned from my job. I had a great job running the music shop in my local town. I loved my job. I got to try out all the guitars and keyboards that we sold. I got to teach beginners the skill of playing the guitar. I spent all day in a musical setting and played live music every weekend. And for all this I was paid a pittance. I had barely enough to live on.
I had a young family and a house but we were living on the breadline. We were even given handouts from friends when we were in a really bad month. There is no shame in this. It’s just how things were.
The beginning of the end of all this was when I handed in my resignation and decided to work from home for myself. My boss was stunned and asked what I was going to do. I told him I was going to work from home. I knew that if I didn’t try out running a business for myself I would always regret it. I never did regret it, although it was very tough financially in the early years.
Twenty two years later I now run my own manufacturing business which is highly successful. I will retire from this in the next year and let other people run it for me.
My Discovery Of Internet Marketing
Five years ago I discovered the world of internet marketing. My manufacturing business website was going nowhere. So I decided to run it “in house”. Fortunately for me I met up with some true experts in this field who set me up the right way. But as well as sorting out my businesss website I discoverted the world of internet marketing.
Internet marketing is very, very shiny! It is very enticing and boy was I enticed! But I am fortunate enough to be able to write well. Within a year I had my first product selling online. It stills sells well today. I now have four books in print and on Kindle. This is a great passive income for me because Amazon do all the marketing and promotion for me.
What I did was use my skill for writing to make money. But you do not have to write to make money. That is what I do and it works for me. There are many other ways to set up your internet business at home. The important thing is to decide what you are going to do and then do it.
What you do to achieve your own success is not nearly as important as how you do it. Let me say that again in another way. You can succeed in any business you like as long as you do it the right way. If you do things the wrong way then you will fail.
